The art of harmony, balance and flow

Venue and address : Buddhist Retreat Centre, Ixopo

    • Body Sensing: Feed Me Green! The art of harmony, balance and flow

Teacher: Yasmin Lambat and Nicholas McLean

      Cost: 2 days’ accommodation + R350 surcharge

      Dates: Friday 29 September 2017 - Sunday 01 October 2017

yasmin-lambetnicolas-mcleanEnlightened healing methodologies tend to revert to ancient and traditional insights. These held that traumas - be they emotional and psychological or physical and organic - involve both the body and the mind. They avoid the drug regimes advocated in modern allopathic medicine which tend to divorce the mind from the body. Body Sensing is a Somatic (mind-body) healing therapy that uses the body’s innate wisdom to release tension and negative feelings and helps to rewire negative moods through centering and re-aligning our sense of being through movement and mindfulness. Mindfully integrating breath, mood and movement promotes a sense of harmony, balance and flow, which has proved to be particularly effective for people suffering from stress and anxiety and the resulting physical symptoms such as chronic back pain, migraine fibromyalgia and other autoimmune conditions. If moods and emotions influence body physiology, how do they influence the food choices we make and how can we learn to choose more wisely? Embodying mindfulness by eating with more awareness is a powerful way of developing both physical and emotional well-being.

MANAGING MENSTRUAL PAIN AND PMS NATURALLY : AN HOLISTIC APPROACH

Date 30 Sep 2017 - 30 Sep 2017

Cost of event : R 400.00

Venue and address : Eaglesview Yoga Studio, 4 Galloway Lane, Winston Park

This workshop is designed to assist women of all ages who experience menstrual pain and PMS.  Living in pain and feeling "out of sorts" two to three days a month for years negatively impacts our energy levels and our ability to live with joy.  Too many women approach "that time of the month" with emotions ranging from irritability to dread.  We believe there are alternatives to anti-depressants, anti-inflammatories and pain killers to manage menstrual pain and PMS.

The workshop will help us to re-connect with the natural cycles of our bodies.  Physical and Psychological explanations for PMS and menstrual pain will be explored, as well as our belief systems and attitudes to our menstrual cycles.  The impact of changing hormones on our emotions will be covered, as will natural pain relief (including specific yoga poses) and nutritional approaches that support our natural cycles.

Our intention is to share our wisdom and experience to assist women to live happier, more joyful lives, no matter what time of the month it is!

The workshop will be facilitated by Alison Rielly (Counselling Psychologist) and Kaz Wilson (Nutritionist, Horticulturist and Iyengar Yoga Teacher)

Community Gathering - Sweat Lodge

Date 04 Nov 2017 - 04 Nov 2017

Cost of event : R 400.00

Venue and address : Sacred Journeys

Led by experienced Sacred Pipe Carrier & Sweat Lodge Dance Chief Lou Worldweaver, this Purification follows in the same ancient time honoured traditions of the Twisted Hairs Lineage. We gather together for the preparation of the space which includes Smudging, Blessing and calling the Powers of Creation into the Stone Children, building the Sacred Fire, covering the Sweat Lodge and calling on the Powers of the Medicine Wheel to create an alchemical container within which we can do our work safely. Although it has a structure, the Ceremony, the theme and the participants are always different, therefore each Sweat Lodge is a unique experience unto itself. Following each Ceremony, we gather together to share insights gained before bringing the Circle to a close. To conclude the Gathering, we celebrate our rebirth by sharing in a Feast. Each person brings a plate of food that has been created with love & prepared with care. This feeds the spirit as well as the body, and serves as a communal Heart Gift that we can share with each other. Participating on a regular basis helps to purify, rejuvenate and maintain health and well being.
Heart Exchange...
An exchange of R 400 per person is requested. The requested Exchanges are inspired from understanding the principle of mutual exchange. It is an expression from your heart, to honour the value of what you gain from the experience by honestly giving what you can, no more and no less. (Should the requested exchange be obstacle that prevents you from joining, please speak to us so we can discuss possible options.) A balanced equitable exchange communicates the message that you are present, aware and committed to your journey, with the willingness to give equally for what you receive. The universe cannot help but respond in support to this kind of exchange. CONTACT US TO BOOK YOUR SPOT AND FOR PREPARATION DETAILS.

Cost of event : R 550.00

Venue and address : Dharmagiri Insight Meditation Centre, Underberg

KThis will be a silent meditation retreat focusing on the theme of our relationship with ourselves: what does “being our own best friend” really mean?  Can we be steady and at ease simply being who we are without needing to be particularly special or better or worse than anyone else?  Can we similarly be at peace with others who are different to us without being critical and judgmental? We will explore these questions using insights from both psychology and the Buddha’s teachings on what keeps us trapped in cycles of negativity and how we can restore ourselves to a more natural state of ease and wellbeing.
