Through interactive workshops, supported by one on one coaching, people are able to grow and realise their full potential personally and professionally. Our workshops enable participants to be more effective and lead healthier, more balanced lives. Because of this, they tend to have a greater influence on others, make better decisions and achieve overall, greater life satisfaction.

 

Emotional intelligence is a break through approach, a powerful way of looking at people and behavior. It is an integrated approach that combines thinking and feeling to make optimal decisions. An international study showed that emotional intelligence predicts almost 55% of key success factors in the workplace, which is why innovative organizations are using EQ in sales, leadership, recruitment and team performance. It is also based on neuroscience and is not the “touchy feely” concept that many people are mislead to believe. It is that “IT” factor that some people are seen to have – the great news is that it is a learnable skill.

As part of the global initiative to grow people practicing emotional intelligence, we also host regular EQ certifications in South Africa, with Master trainer and Director of the MEA Region, Jayne Morrison.

Six Seconds is a global network supporting people to create positive change – everywhere, all the time. We teach the skills of emotional intelligence to fill the “missing link” needed for people to become more aware, intentional, and purposeful so individuals, teams, organizations, families, schools and communities flourish.

Having graduated from Durban University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Cell Biology and Industrial psychology, Avril entered into the Corporate Services world where she spent 20 highly successful years in various leadership roles. Avrils passion for people was highly evident in her good people management and strong mentorship roles. After a successful corporate career where she held several Directorships and both Regional and National positions, Avril started her own consultancy company and has continued to help her clients set up systems, implement strategies as well as developing costing models and business plans. However her passion remains in the people development side and after having qualified through Global leaders, Six Seconds, she is now an EQ certified Practitioner, a Certified SEI Assessor for EQ assessments for adults and youth (SEI – YV) and a certified Vital Signs Assessor for organisational assessments and individual and team leadership 360 surveys .

As the Preferred partner for leading Global EQ organisation, Six Seconds, Avril of EQ in Action also hosts international Certifications in South Africa, enabling other interested people to become qualified to teach and measure emotional intelligence.

I was blown away by what it was all about and have learnt so much about myself – my personality type – and the personality types of others. This has taught me how I am seen by others and how I react to others and how important it is to understand the different personality types and then how to interact with those people. I do believe a harmonious and productive work environment is very reliant on understanding and using EQ and I do hope to illustrate how my attendance at the workshop can improve my quality of life in the work environment and how to deal with emotions and conflict. Ideally the more people from the work environment that attend the better the situation but I am grateful that I attended and know that I can make a difference in my life both in business and personally.

Here is some feedback of what I have learnt since I started your EQ Courses…

The course has taught me so much, I feel more positive and have learnt I have the strength and the power to make a positive change in peoples’ lives with the way YOU treat people and leadership is so important.

I have lacked leadership in my life and had to learn a lot on my own, but this course has definitely pushed me in the right direction at the right time in my life. Look things do not change overnight but making the change is the first step.

I use to battle with delegating tasks which were important, fear they would not be completed in time, done correctly and fail. It felt like more work to me to correct the failure after. But what now makes sense to me, your best teacher is your last mistake. I am so proud on my team, they have come along way since I started this new management style, they are slowly learning to do the problem solving on their own without much guidance.

I feel stronger and know I can make a difference with the tools I have learnt. Shift your emotions and I need to evaluate the costs and benefits of my choices. Got to do more …write it down, park it, re-visit.

You have been an inspiration and the course is handed me the tools I never had before.

Thank you so much, this course is extremely powerful and I just need to keep at it, still have a lot to learn but these courses have taught me to stay on the right path professional and personally.
