Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki which is “life force energy”. So Reiki is actually “spiritually guided life force energy.”

There are two main types of traditional healers within Southern Africa: the diviner (sangoma), and the herbalist (inyanga). These healers are effectively South African shamans who are highly revered and respected in a society where illness is thought to be caused by witchcraft, pollution (contact with impure objects or occurrences) or through neglect of the ancestors It is estimated that there are as many as 200,000 indigenous traditional healers in South Africa compared to 25,000 Western-trained doctors. Traditional healers are consulted by approximately 60% of the South African population, usually in conjunction with modern biomedical services.

I have been a Reiki Master since 2004 and have used Reiki extensively on my family and my pets and myself and during this time I spent some time using kinesiology to heal myself and found it very beneficial to my health and well-being through this I discovered Integrated Healing which is founded on kinesiology and endorsed by the kinesiologists association of Australia looking to heal myself and to be able to heal others I found that it was necessary to get right down to the very cause of the issue the original trauma or incident that happened which has caused the outcome and Integrated Healing is the perfect modality for exactly this and has become my new passion for healing.
